About Byron Bay
Byron Bay, a few minutes drive from this ancient site, was built on what the Aboriginal People named Cavanbah, which means Meeting Place
“This here is no man’s land nobody could lay claim to it. Nobody. No Aboriginal person. Nope. Because it was open land for all to feel comfortable and make lore here, no matter where they came from."
Highly respected local Aboriginal Elder Lorraine Mafi Williams. (1940-2001) Had this to say about what makes this region unique in all of Australia.
Many respected and acknowledged Elders say that keeping the site secret is a desecration of it and it is not just a right but our duty to understand it and share knowledge of it to the world.
