“...a fantasy/horror novel that depicts a Ripper suspect as the antichrist. It does so by projecting his life onto the Ripper crimes while simultaneously referring to a mythical worldwide affect...The premise of this fantasy/true crime genre will satisfy the curiosity of anyone with an interest in the occult, history, the Ripper crimes, and the life of a great 19th century English poet. ...It is both the strangest tale ever told and a true-crime book like no other."

A most unusual book, a cross between a history book and the story of Jack the Ripper, mixed with a horror thriller depicting the poet Francis Thompson as the villain who killed five women in Whitechapel in 1888. I learnt so much from reading it.The research that has gone into this book is phenomenal. The book is a fictional tale but is surrounded by the factual accounts of the murders and the real biography of Francis Thompson (1859 - 1907) Richard Patterson believes the poet was Jack the Ripper and certainly, reading this, one could come to the same conclusion. It's a thrilling story of what could have happened in that Autumn of terror so long ago. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Highly recommend if you want something different from the usual Jack the Ripper books.
***** Masterful.

Richard Patterson has written masterfully here about the Jack the Ripper Case and the man he suspects of having been the Ripper - English Poet Francis Thompson. Author and Ripper expert catches our attention right from Page One and never is there a time when one does not want to read on. He also has my admiration for the research which must have gone into this book.
Bravo!
***** A great purchase, recommend this book to buy.
